Rank 2 Equipment on Exos Heroes

Season 4 has released the long awaited Rank 2 (R2) equipment system. Was it worth the wait and how does it work? Find out in this beginner's guide video!

Rank 2 Gear Basics

You can upgrade fully leveled 6-star level 60 R1 gear to R2 gear.

  • Upgrading to rank 2 gear will upgrade the base stat of the gear, while keeping all the other attributes including substats, magical enhancement, and guardian stone
  • If you've forged your gear as R1, the materials that you forged your gear with will be returned to you
  • Unlike R1, you can magically enhance R2 gear whenever you want without having to upgrade to 6 stars

In summary, this means that:

  • If you convert your gloves and accessories it will increase the base attack stat
  • If you convert your helm, chest and foot, it'll increase the base defense stat

Materials to Upgrade to Rank 2 Gear on Exos Heroes

The materials needed are pretty easy - the star of fate and star crystal, 100 of each. You do have to start from Level 1, however, but your level 60 stat now becomes your base stat starting from R2 level 1.

Should You Increase to R2 Gear on Exos Heroes?

Is it worth it? Definitely so, in my opinion. It's not exactly cheap, but it's worth it to invest into some of your pieces with good base and substats, as this provides another way to increase your attack and defense to pull off some passives.

Definitely look into ranking up your gloves and accessories this if you're looking to increase for example, Jinai or Bathory or Dorka's attack for their passive or ranking up helms, chest or boots for heroes like Schmid or Garff to increase their defense.

Misty doesn't necessary need attack or defensive substats but I thought it would be nice to get her geared up shiny before testing her out so please give me a bit and I'll have a full thoughts on her soon!
